- Is the club currently open post-pandemic?
- Yes, we meet every Wednesday at 7pm on the first floor of 14 Rubislaw Terrace (Aberdeen Bridge Club)
- I am an adult who has begun playing online on chess.com/lichess etc. during the pandemic, does the club provide anything for people like me?
- Yes, there are quite a few new members who fit this profile and you are very welcome.
- Is there beginners coaching/tuition provided by the club?
- We have not provided tuition in the past but as of October 2023 are currently trialling Sunday chess classes, see https://bonaccordchess.wordpress.com/2023/10/16/junior-coaching-sundays/ .
- However be aware that in order to get the most out of the classes your child should already know how the pieces move.
- Is the club suitable for my child who is new to chess?
- See answer above – this is not exclusively a kids club, it is a club for all ages from 8 to 80, and learn how the pieces move first.
- However if your child knows the rules and enjoys playing chess I am sure they would have a great time – about 40% of our membership are kids.
- There are some Steps training books provided for self-study at home.
- Juniors under the age of 14 need to be signed in and out of the club by their parent or guardian if the parent/guardian are not staying
